a love for teaching...

Our mission is simple: we help you feel confident about your money.

The company was founded by Robert Shaye in 2018 and is a Washington State registered LLC. Rob draws his energy from helping others with their finances. After opening his first IRA at age 15 with earnings from mowing lawns and babysitting, Rob has never stopped learning about personal finance and investing.

Rob's love for teaching emerged in 2006, as a Coast Guard officer, stationed aboard the Tall Ship EAGLE.  "During those two years at sea, I realized the power of sharing knowledge. Whether I was teaching cadets leadership and teamwork through sailing, or celestial navigation, seeing them understand and get excited about learning was a feeling I'll never forget."

After 10 years in the military, Rob brought his passion for education and investing to the private sector. Working for a "robo-advisor" allowed him to pursue his mission of bringing high-quality financial advice to everyday families. In 2015 FutureAdvisor was acquired by the world's largest asset manager, BlackRock. Rob continued to work for FutureAdvisor and BlackRock, launching digital investing solutions with some of the nations largest banks. In 2018 Rob left to build a company that helps people answer one simple question, "How should I manage my money?"

Rob is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and holds an MBA from the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.  He is a also a member of the Financial Planning Association of San Francisco and is a proud "Big Brother" with Big Brothers Big Sisters. (As you can imagine, his 19 year old "Little Brother" Aldo, has his own Roth IRA.)

Rob has always enjoyed teaching and had the opportunity to hone his classroom skills while he was a lecturer at the United States Coast Guard Academy. He created a taught a three credit class "Personal Financial Management" and also served as the advisor to the Cadet Investment Club. Additionally, he provided training to military members attending classes at the U.S. Coast Guard Leadership Development Center.

Rob volunteers his time with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area and is active with the veteran non-profit, Bunker Labs. He resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife Jeannie and their two daughters, who at the age of 2 days, completed their first bank bonuses.
